0. Preliminary notesOne thing always stays the same in IT and that’s the constant need of keeping things updated, since with updates come new features and (most important) bug fixes. That’s why, since a CMS based web site (be it Joomla, Drupal or whatever else) is a software in all respects, you should always keep your web site updated. But when you’re used to having your OS and software either auto updating or, at least, telling you there are available updates to download, manually checking if Joomla, the used template or one of the various extensions you’ve used in your web site have been updated can become a pretty tedious work (so, to put it more clearly, probably you will do this necessary check only occasionally, if ever). That’s why this guide will show you various software tools you can use to have your Joomla based web site automatically or semi automatically updated and show you, through pratical examples, how to configure WebMon (our tool of chose) to do most of the work for you. |
